It begins – 6 months and counting!

Welcome to the Climb Toowoomba blog. We are so excited that you have agreed to join us on our journey to open Toowoomba’s first dedicated bouldering facility.
This will be a long road but we plan to keep you updated as often as possible.

On the 1st of January we received the keys to our site. It took years of searching for the right venue with many buildings being ruled out because of council restrictions or landlord lease requirements. We had initially wanted to create a combined top rope/lead and boulder facility however, finding anything in the CBD with 10m+ walls and space for a bouldering hall was impossible. Once we narrowed down our search for bouldering only we were presented with a few possibilities and finally found a wonderful landlord who was willing to give us a go. The site is just over 500sqm and it’s located in the Toowoomba CBD. There is even a bus stop right outside!

On the 3rd of January we met with our town planner, shop fitter and wall builder for an initial consultation and design expectation meeting. Our plans involve updating the facilities inside the building, adding a cafe area and building as much climbable wall space as possible. We will have full height walls for the whole family to enjoy.

Our rough timeline is that the design will be finalized by the end of January. Our town planner will start lodging all the paperwork with the council and then the shop fitters will come in to begin their build. In the background the walls will be built overseas and shipped to us along with all the stock from your favourite brands. At this stage we are aiming to open around July 2024.
